Board of Directors

Meet the all-volunteer Board of Directors who work tirelessly to keep the performances available to the public.


President Barbara Sestito – Mrs. Sestito is a semi-retired business owner.  She is a graduate of San Jose State University with a BS Degree in Aeronautical Engineering with graduate studies at Sacramento State University.  She holds a General Secondary Credential in Math and Science and also has numerous aeronautical ratings.  Mrs. Sestito is the Past International President of the “99’s”, the International Organization of Women Pilots.  Her primary expertise is in accounting and she has been CFO for several businesses and organizations.  She has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Fair Oaks Theatre Festival for several terms, having served as treasurer and director.

Vice President Cathy Smallhouse – Mrs. Smallhouse is Vice President and Branch Manager of American River Bank.  She has been a member of the Fair Oaks Theatre Festival Board of Directors for several terms serving as Secretary and Vice President.  She is currently in charge of Membership.  She is a former Board Member of the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce and was Honorary Mayor of Fair Oaks in 1991.  She served on the Board of Directors of the Bank Administrators Institute and is a past Board Member of the March of Dimes.  Mrs. Smallhouse is a member of the Fair Oaks Rotary and brings to this Board her expertise in banking, organizational skills and her commitment to this community.

Secretary Merete Bryant – Merete is a transplant from Denmark via Canada, New York and Colorado, finally landing in the Golden State in 1974. As a retired RN, she worked in Long Term Care as Director of Nursing Services, as Community Out-reach Nurse for Yolo Hospice, and as Consultant for Pain Management in Long Term care. Merete’s son Joe Hart has been a staple on the stage at FOTF since 1989, and as an involved parent, Merete finally became a FOTF board member in the fall of 2005. In 2007 she took over as Snack Bar Manager, and is currently secretary to the FOTF Board.. She still manages the Snack Bar, and is there at almost every performance, so stop by and say hello. In her “free time”, Merete is a member of Carmichael Kiwanis, secretary of their community services committee, and she also volunteers at Carmichael Elementary School’s second grade. Merete is also a devoted cat lover, and currently the owner of 5 spoiled rescued felines.

Treasurer Patrick Rooney, CPA – Mr. Rooney owns and operates the accounting firm of Patrick J. Rooney in Fair Oaks.  A graduate of San Jose State University and Golden Gate University, he holds a BS in business/accounting and an MBA in taxation.  Mr. Rooney not only brings his accounting skills to this organization, but also volunteers his talents with other local groups.  He is a board member of the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Fair Oaks Rotary.  He is the current chairman of the Max Huss Golf Tournament that raises funds for local charities.


William “Bill” Brown – Mr. Brown is a retired Captain of the Sacramento Metro Fire District, and began his career with the Fair Oaks Fire District in 1974.  He finished his career as a Fire Captain in the Fair Oaks Village Station where he began.  Mr. Brown attended American River College. A long-time resident of Fair Oaks, Mr. Brown brings to this board his expertise in organization and business management.

Gwen Cooper – Mrs. Cooper has been a faithful and consistent volunteer for over 20 years.  She retired after years of service to PG&E, and retired again after working for the Warehouse Paint Company.  She brings to the Board her great organizational skills and will concentrate on supporting various committees.

Bridget Gray – Member Newsletter “In the Spotlight” and FOTF Social Media Campaign Coordinator – Bridget maintains the mailing and distribution lists for FOTF and Best of Broadway and along with Gwen Cooper oversees the Raffle and Silent Auction for the annual St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser. Bridget was approached by the Board and voted onto the Board in 2009. She is actively engaged in the Fair Oaks community through the festival, PTA and her work as a Realtor with Coldwell Banker in Fair Oaks.

Don Langford – Marketing and Promotions Committee Chair – Don come from a talented acting family; his mother was part of a traveling family show in the Salem Oregon area, two of his three daughters where active in church and school theater production all though high school. One daughter, Analise Langford, continued on to be a part of many of the Fair Oaks Theater Festival productions. Now his granddaughter is also part of theater. Juliet Langford–Perry has been in two Fair Oaks Theater Festival productions and was in the production of “Peter Pan” at American River College. Langford’s theater background is on both the technical side and the marketing side, he also has served as a theater sound consultant for the Fair Oaks Theater productions. He has been part of many stage and concert productions both in the Los Angeles area and in the Sacramento area. His is General Manager of KNCO AM/FM radio in Grass Valley/Nevada City.

Lillian O’Neal – Mrs. O’Neal is the Administrator and First Surgical Assistant of the Martel Eye Medical Group in Rancho Cordova.  She is a graduate of Sacramento City College with a degree in Nursing and is a Registered Nurse.  Mrs. O’Neal is a member of several professional organizations and is a Past Board Member and Treasurer of the Superior California Association of Operating Room Nurses.  She is an active volunteer in the community, serving at many levels with her church and school district.  Mrs. O’Neal is currently focusing on volunteer development for the Theatre Festival.

Karen Rosevear – Karen was born and raised in Fair Oaks.  She is currently on the Board of the Sacramento Music Festival (Jazz) and is an Auditor of fuel tax for the State Board of Equalization.  She is interested in helping with box office operations.

Steve Sogard – Group Sales Coordinator for FOTF – Steve resides and works in Fair Oaks as a Business Consultant and Advisor.  His wife, Tamara, is a Real Estate Agent for Lyon Real Estate and they have two children including Elana Jane Sogard who frequently performs at FOTF.  Avid enthusiasts of Theatre and the Arts, the Sogards recognize Fair Oaks Theatre Festival as a special contributor to culture and the arts in the greater Sacramento Area.
